Before taking over the Cowdenbeath Racewall in 1989, from 1981 GMP (Scotland) promoted stock car racing at the now non-existant Newton Grange Stadium.
Gordon McDougall, the promoter of GMP (Scotland) Ltd, began his career as a stock car driver achieving the title of Formula 2 World Championship twice before starting GMP (Scotland) Ltd in 1981.
In 1989 GMP (Scotland) Ltd moved from Newton Grange stadium to Central Park Stadium in Fife, the home of Cowdenbeath Football Club. The stadium was destroyed by a fire in 1992 and was subsequently rebuilt.
Before GMP (Scotland) Ltd relocated to Central Park Stadium, the stadium was used for stock car racing under the promotion of Spedeworth.
