Dear Driver,

Just a brief newsletter to give you all the information for the restart of the season on Saturday 14th July.

After all the speculation regarding the future of racing at the Racewall, I can now confirm that what everyone was told at our drivers’ meetings in December 2006 is in fact taking place. I will soon be taking the opportunity to retire from the racing side of the business. Although a time scale cannot be accurately placed on the completion of developments, a deal is in the pipeline and I am certain that the new owners will be much better placed to accomplish their future plans and provide a new stadium to house the racing than I ever was.

There will be no change to your weekly meetings which will be run as always by the current staff with any enquiries addressed to Davie Borthwick after 6pm on 01506 410996. The sport faces huge challenges in the years ahead but with the enthusiasm of the type of person it seems to breed, I have no doubt that it will continue to be successful for many years to come.

Although I will probably retain an interest in both F2 and Saloons in the future, there will be no ties but being here with the football means perhaps the most difficult thing to achieve will be taking no part in the racing side on a Saturday.

I hope to be able to enlarge further on developments soon once everything has been finalised.

Health & Safety

As was relayed to drivers at the winter meetings, the need for a fire extinguisher in their car has been relaxed and although the current rule books failed to carry that information on when going to print, the recent visit from the Health & Safety department approved the idea wholeheartedly.

From the restart of racing, we are looking for each driver to carry a 14Kg Co2 or Dry Powder extinguisher readily available at their trailer / Transporter.

You know that this rule makes a lot of sense so please co-operate to make the scrutineers job much easier.   The option of still carrying a smaller extinguisher within your car is still available but it must be securely fitted.

Fixture Changes

Principal changes to the fixture list are for the first and second meeting back where Stock Rods are replaced by Hot Rods with the reverse a week later

World Final Excursions

Stuart's Coaches are running coaches to both Arena Essex and Taunton for the F2 and Saloon WF meetings respectively.
The Taunton coach will depart early on the morning of August 18th from Racewall and arrive at Taunton in plenty of time for the Saturday night meeting with the coach returning after the meeting on Sunday. You will require to make your own arrangements for overnight accommodation.
As the F2 WF is a 1-day meeting, the Arena Essex coach will leave from the Racewall directly after the meeting here on September 1st and travel down overnight to Essex for the WF meeting which also features Saloons and Historic Stock Cars. The coach will leave immediately after the meeting to travel back to Scotland.
The cost for each trip is £30 return per person (no discounted seats). Deposits of £15 per seat can be paid in the Track Office after 7pm on any race night. Seats must be paid in full by August 2nd for the Taunton coach or August 25th for the Arena Essex coach.
Please book as early as possible as extra coaches can be supplied if needed.

Below are listed the fixtures remaining for the season with the obvious omission of August 18th,  the weekend of the Saloon Stock Car World Final at Taunton when we close down rather than run against the major fixture of the year.
